Tanzania Safari Cost & Best Time to Visit

Your Tanzania safari budget depends on your comfort level, travel dates, and how you move between parks. Here’s a quick overview of typical price ranges and the best months to travel, with links to our in-depth planning guides.

How Much Does a Tanzania Safari Cost?

Typical Tanzania Safari Budget (Per Person / Day)

Budget Safaris $250–$350 pp/day
Mid-Range Safaris $400–$600 pp/day
Luxury Safaris $700–$1,500+ pp/day

These ranges include accommodation, park fees, 4x4 vehicle, guide, and most meals. For a full breakdown by park, season, and itinerary style, see our Tanzania Safari Costs guide.

Best Time to Visit Tanzania

  • June – October Dry season with excellent visibility and concentrated wildlife at water sources. This is also the peak time for Great Migration river crossings in the Serengeti.
  • December – March Calving season in the southern Serengeti. Thousands of wildebeest calves are born and predators are very active — ideal for dramatic sightings and photography.
  • April – May Green season with lush landscapes, fewer crowds, and lower prices. Some showers, but great value for money if you don’t mind occasional rain.
Tip: Travel on the edge of high season to balance wildlife, weather & price.
